Musica Del Alma
April 30th, 2009 Posted in Cotique, Latin SoulHere it is, the record that first opened me up to the Nuyorican sound of the late sixties, the TNT Boys doing a thing called “Musica del Alma”, or Soul Music. What could this blog be without putting up this classic to start things off?!
A two-tone Archie Bell “Tighten Up”-style guitar riff lays the backbone for this Latin Soul gem, no doubt playing off of the regional success of the TNT Band’s “Meditation”. Don’t ask me which song I like better, but I will tell there are few songs out there that put me in a better mood.
I’m also including another song from the album, “Caliente,” an oft slept-on dancefloor killah.

great tracks Slim, thanks a lot
I might suggest that you output them in stereo if possible (even though they’re mono); so that they come out of both speakers (right only at the moment).
But thanks again …
Musica del Alma is one of my favorite tracks of all time. Nice name choice for the blog.
One request: Could you try to add the correct tags to the mp3s before you share them? As it stands they don’t even have titles or artists.
Hey There. Via the wonderful tracking tools of google I found out that you were in the past looking for the album of “Chocolate Caliente” that has the the track “Hot chocolate” on it. Mericana label I think… I love that track, I have it on a compil CD and I am desperately looking for the OG vinyl. Can you post a scan of the record if you have it and name the album, that would help me a lot in finding the album.
Kris,
I was able to track down two original copies of that Hot Chocolate LP a while back. Coincidentally, I was going to post it up here in the next week or so. Stay tuned.

Keep it coming. I’ve been a fan of Kikkin Bakk but I’m super happy to see you are putting up an exclusively latin music blog.
Nice work!
